Carolyn J. Brannon ("Cricket"), 77, of Dekalb died October 19, 2019 after a brief illness.

She was born in Elgin, Illinois to the late Emma & John Butts. Big things come in small packages and Carolyn was no exception. She had a vibrant spirit and was full of energy in her small frame, always smiling and full of life.

Carolyn graduated from Kaneland High School in 1960. She worked at Ideal Industries and retired from Ideal after many years of service.

She married her husband of almost 50 years, the late Jack Brannon, after meeting him in Sycamore. They lived in Sycamore for many years and eventually moved to Palestine, IL until Jack died. Carolyn's mother, Emma also lived with them almost all of Carolyn's adult life. After Jack's death, Carolyn then moved back "home" to Dekalb a few years ago.

Carolyn is survived by her sister, Lois D'Elia of Round Hill, Virginia; Dennis (Jill) Butts of Norco, CA, David Butts and Richard Butts both of Tunnel Hill, GA; a special sister-in-law, Mary (Howard) Butts of Monroe Center, IL .; Sister-in-law, Mary (Gary) Stevens of Robinson, IL; and sister-in-law Kay Catt, FL. Carolyn was blessed with many nieces and nephews who were like her own children. She doted on them anytime she could by making special treats, giving them nicknames and always providing a big huge hug when she saw them.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; her parents Emma and John Butts; brothers George Butts and Howard Butts.

Arrangements by Butala Funeral home and at Carolyn's request, there will be no service. She will be cremated, and a private burial will be held in Palestine, IL at a later date.
