Carolyn J. (Beach) Poppen's Obituary
Carolyn J. (Beach) Poppen, 82, of Sycamore died Thursday, March 12, 2020 at NW Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital.
She was born April 21, 1937 in Beloit, WI. to Elmer and Helen (Miller) Barber.
Carolyn received her masters degree at Northern Illinois University. She taught Junior High School at Stillman Valley and Monroe Center schools. Carolyn set up various reading programs and taught special education for several years.
Survivors include her two step sons, Jeff Poppen and Mark Poppen and two brothers, Daniel G. Barber and David Barber.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, David Beach (died 1986) and her second husband, Edward Poppen (died 2017).
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 18th from 10:00 AM- 11:00 AM at the Slater-Butala Funeral Home in Genoa. Her funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Kingston Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to TAILS Humane Society in care of the Slater-Butala Funeral Home, 132 W. Main St., Genoa, IL. 60135.
