Carol Grace Quitno (nee Hodge) passed away peacefully on February 8, 2024 with family by her side.

She was born on July 31, 1940 in Sycamore, IL to Lois Fredrick and Philip James Hodge, Sr. She grew up in Sycamore her entire life, excelled in school and was a baton twirler during her high school years. She went on to Illinois State University to complete her Bachelor's in Education and chose Physical Education as her major. She was always athletic herself so it was a natural choice. She taught PE at Burlington-Central High School after graduating college and loved it.

Carol married the love of her life, Alvin Quitno, on August 11, 1962. She was an active member at St. Peter's Episcopal Church where she was baptized, confirmed, and married. Her faith was very strong. She served on many committees including the altar guild, flower guild, building and grounds, and chairman of the mincemeat committee. She was extremely compassionate--always ready to help anyone in need. She became a master gardener and it showed in her own garden on Park Avenue, which was a gardener's paradise, and at Dekalb Lawn, the family business for nearly 30 years. When her mother, Lois Hodge, passed away, Carol started a memorial garden for her at St. Peter's Church. She took great pride in caring for the garden for all to enjoy. She also loved working in her vegetable garden and canned many vegetables during the growing season.

Carol and Al were married 52 wonderful years and blessed with two children – Dawn (Patrick) Edgerton and Danny (Jolene) Quitno and four grandchildren – Madie (Sara) Pate Edgerton, Joseph Edgerton, and Ethan and Graham Quitno. She was preceded in death by brothers Phil and David Hodge and sister Beverly (Larry) Dewire.  She is survived by her brother Don Hodge and sister Dorothy Carlson along with several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 218 Somonauk Street, Sycamore, on Thursday, February 15, 2024 from 9:30 to 11:00 am followed by a memorial service celebrating her life at 11:00 am.
