Obituary

Carl R. Hargrave, 79, of Sycamore died on January 16, 2023 at the Aperion Care Center in DeKalb.
He was born on October 17, 1943, in DeKalb to Carl E. and Bertha (Kivessilta) Hargrave. He married Marjorie J. Davis on February 28, 1964.
Carl was a plumber with local contractors for many years before taking a position at Northern Illinois University, where he worked until retirement.
He enjoyed spending time with family, supporting local charities and watching his favorite sports teams. He will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie; son, Andrew Hargrave (Jill Carey-Hargrave); grandchildren, Aidan, Hope and Jordan; sister Marcia (Jim) Breunlin; brother, Dale (Patty) Hargrave; brother- and sister-in-law, John and Sandy Davis; brother-in-law, Richard Slayton and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gary Hargrave; sister, Sue Slayton, niece, Meara Hargrave and nephew, Randy Davis.
Carl's visitation will be on Saturday, Jan. 21, from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1915 N. First St., DeKalb, Ill.  His funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Elizabeth Mascal officiating. Burial will be at the Fairview Park Cemetery in DeKalb.
