Brian D. Asselin's Obituary

Brian D. Asselin, 61, passed away at home on Tuesday, June 29 ^th , 2021. He was born in Milwaukee, WI on November 21 ^st , 1959 to Gilbert and Shirley Asselin.

Brian had a passion for his family and for life itself, and was a true and loyal friend. If you needed him, he would be there as soon as he could or would spend time on the phone walking you through something. He was a man with a big heart and a generous nature who loved helping people. It was usually by giving them something they needed, offering advice, or just talking to them and being a friend.

Brian loved talking to people, whether he was out and about, or just hanging out in his garage visiting with the many friends that would stop by. The music was always on and the door was always open. And with his love of music came running a karaoke show for several years, typically at the American Legion or Moose Club. For many years on nice weekends he would be on his Harley, riding with friends, and making new ones. He loved being around his family, spending time with his grandchildren, building various collections, going to yard and garage sales, grilling out (he made the best chicken!), cheering on his beloved Packers during football season, and watching westerns and true crime shows.

Brian also had a knack for construction, and could build or fix almost anything. But his one true talent was his outgoing and friendly nature that made him many friends over the years, and that made people enjoy talking to him.

Brian had a long career with the CNW and UP Railroads in the Structures Department. He proudly served 39 years, retiring in December 2019 as a foreman.

Survivors include his wife, Dana Asselin; his children; Michael (Christina) Asselin, Jennie Smith, Leah (Danny) Alcocer, and Andrea (Aaron) Underhill. His siblings; Layton (Susie) Asselin, Mark (Linda) Asselin, Rex (Sue) Asselin, Rachelle (Rick) Wagner, Kevin (Monica) Asselin, Karen (Rick-also his best friend) Jordan, Brad (Sandy) Asselin, and Tracie (Al) Ratz. His grandchildren; Alayna, Kaila, Cameron, Diego, Daniel, and Damian. Two sisters-in-law, Erica Larson and Krista Larson. Also numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is also survived by special friends Todd Irving and Amy Kuipers, his beloved dog Baby, and many, many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

At his request there will be no services, but a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
