Brett Alan Sprietler, 56, of Sycamore died Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, IL.
He was born October 21, 1963 in Salem, IL. to Donald G. and Shelby (Trantham) Sprietler. He graduated Summa Cum Lauda, from Southern Illinois University, with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Industrial Engineering. Brett was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a devout Christian. He lived in Illinois and Florida most of his life. He married Cheri on August 2, 2008.
Brett was accomplished as an Engineer and also skilled in church leadership. He was an active and dedicated member of Crossview EFCA and volunteered in many capacities at church. He served as President of the We-Care board, volunteered at Neighbor's House, and became a member of Gideon International in 2012.
Brett loved spending time with his family and friends. An avid St. Louis Cardinals and sports fan, who enjoyed traveling, golfing, and watching movies. Brett was a kind and generous individual; he loved being a disciple of Jesus and helping others.
Survivors include his wife, Cheri Sprietler; his mother, Shelby Sprietler; children, Jessica (Charles) Smothers, Justin Sprietler, Daniel Sprietler (Shane Mahon), Katelyn Helmold and Benjamin Helmold; grandchildren, Carly, Andrew and Joshua Smothers and his sister, Marchelle Weir.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Sprietler.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 24th from 1:00-4:00 PM at the Crossview EFCA Church, 150 Bethany Road, DeKalb, IL.
