Beverly Ann Yockey

Beverly, a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and a friend to all who knew her was born in Auburn Iowa to Edwin and Bernice Haubrich. She was the eldest of six children; Larry (Elaine) Haubrich, Janet (Jim) DeMarco, Robert (Katie) Haubrich, Dale (Judy) Haubrich, and Michael (Cindy) Haubrich.

Beverly was baptized Catholic at St. Mary's church in Auburn Iowa. She graduated from Saint Angels Academy/St. Joseph school of nursing with a degree in Radiology. She married the love of her life Ronald Floyd Yockey at the age of 18, at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Maple River, Iowa on June 9, 1956. Together, they built a strong and faithful life, raising eight children and remaining happily married for 60 years, until her beloved husband preceded her in death in January 2015.

Beverly was a devoted mother who stayed home to raise eight children with a fierce love that never wavered. Her home was filled with the aroma of home cooking, and she always set an extra plate at the table for whomever needed a hot meal and ensured there was enough to share. The Rosary and the smell of fresh warm rolls, cookies, and pie was her hallmark. The sharing of a meal was an act of love. During Grace she always ended with a thank you to the Lord for “Family.” Beverly was always available to help with her family and grandchildren with a grateful heart. Passionate about her Catholic faith, she could often be found at mass, adoration, or doing daily walks while saying the Rosary.

She volunteered at Church and Equine Dreams for 25 years and never turned down a call when a substitute at adoration was needed. Those who knew her remember the security of asking for her prayers and knowing she would stop everything to pray on the spot. Friends said she had a quiet spirituality about her. Beverly believed that the best gift was attending Mass together; she valued family and community.

She never missed a birthday, and her family knew inside each of her handwritten mailed birthday cards would be a crisp dollar bill and a shiny foiled stick of gum. She could make anyone feel welcome within 5 minutes and she loved to play Canasta. She taught the power of Prayer and the Rosary. In her final months she developed a faithfulness to the Divine Mercy chaplet and added it to her daily rosary walks.

Her Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday September 10th at 10:30 am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 320 S. Depot St., Somonauk Illinois 60552. 

The Celebrant will be Father Andy Davy, MIC.

The Family asks that you consider honoring her memory by doing something she would have wanted- Pray for someone, share a meal, visit the aged/sick, pray the Rosary, and pray for Family, Priests and our Religious Leaders.
