Betty L. Jackson, 94, of Greensburg, PA. passed away Friday, June 28, 2024 at Ligonier Gardens.

Born May 11, 1930 in Genoa, IL, she was a daughter of the late George and Olga (Nelson) Lange and was raised by her adoptive parents, the late Joseph and Elizabeth Sester and family.

Betty was a member of St. Bartholomew Church, Crabtree, and while growing up, she was a member of St. Catherine of Genoa Church, Genoa, IL.  Along with her husband, Roy, they were McDonald's franchisees since 1972.  Throughout her life, she enjoyed traveling all over the world.  From an early age, she had been a tap dancer and regularly appeared on the "Saturday Night Barn Dance" broadcast in Chicago, earning her the nickname "Chicago's Shirley Temple."  She spent several years teaching tap dancing, too, as well as teaching piano lessons. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy W. Jackson, and several brothers and sisters.  She was the last of her generation.

Betty is survived by her son, Chuck Jackson, and his wife Lu Ann, of Greensburg; two grandchildren, Patricia Miller, and her husband Ryan, of Erie, and Roy Jackson of Greensburg; and three great-grandchildren, Aiden, Abby, and Brody.

Betty's family would like to extend a special thank you to all of her longtime caregivers, as well as the staff at Ligonier Gardens and Concordia at Bethlen Hospice for all of the kind care they have provided.

Her visitation will be on Friday, July 5th from 5:00-7:00 PM at the Butala Funeral Home, 1405 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore, IL.  60178

Her funeral mass will be held on Saturday, July 6th at 10:00 AM at the St. Catherine of Genoa Church, 340 S. Stott St., Genoa, IL. 60135.  Burial will follow at the Fairview Park Cemetery in DeKalb, IL.
