Barbara Jo Young of New Lebanon, passed away November 13, 2022 peacefully in her home after a long illness.
After such a long battle she is finally at peace, her battle was nothing but courageous and graceful in spite of how difficult her
battle waged, she never lost her positive outlook, sunny disposition and willingness to care for and about others. She truly put others before herself always.
Barbara married Richard P. Young on May 27, 1971.
She was employed as a pastry chef for many years at Jewel. It was truly a passion not simply a job.
Her family and friends were privileged to enjoy her culinary delights, including sharing her
expertise and "secret recipes" with her granddaughter. Her legacy will live on!
Barbara enjoyed genealogy, cooking/baking, collecting jewelry, art, a history buff, music lover (Depeche Mode), and had a bear trap of a memory.
Although her body was failing her mind was sharp. She loved trivia and Jeopardy.
She is survived by her devoted and unwavering husband, Richard P. Young; daughter, Jennifer (Chris) Reed, and children Haley Jo and Sam.
Son, Daniel (Kenzie) Young and children Zachery and Charlotte.
Brothers, James(Yolanda) Lawrence and Donald(Sandy) Lawrence; brother-in-law, Thomas Young and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Josephine Lawrence; her brother, Arthur Lawrence Jr. and her mother and father-in-law John and Rita Young.
A visitation will be at Trinity Lutheran Church, 33930 North State Road, Genoa, IL. on Friday, December 9th from 4:00-to 6:00 PM.
