Obituary

Arline M. VanCura-Esposito, 86, of Sycamore, Illinois died on September 23, 2023, at the DeKalb County Rehab and Nursing Center.

She was born on February 9, 1937 in Cicero, Illinois to Ladislav and Mildred (Novak) VanCura. She was married to Robert Esposito of Franklin Park and is survived by her five daughters: Nicolette Seidl, Dina Terry, Laurette Hunsaker, Cristina Meyer and Juliette Rigdon and eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, as well as her sister, Judy Soukup.

She was preceded in death by her husband of over 30 years, Robert Esposito, and her dear grandchild, Daniel Seidl.

Arline was a great promoter of education, environmental causes and eating a vegetarian diet. She worked in a variety of areas that interested her, but after getting her bachelor's degree from National Louis University as a mature adult, she worked for the Gas Research Institute and traveled extensively gathering firsthand information about scientific innovations in the industry. Arline loved all animals and served as a docent at the Brookfield Zoo, earning the title, the "Zoo Grandma." She was a proud member of the Democratic Party and worked for President Obama's campaign. She was an 86-year-old modern woman!
