Arlen LeRoy Roder, 85, of Sycamore, IL. formerly of Montevideo, MN. died on June 27, 2024.

He was born on August 21, 1938 in Milbank, SD to Leonard and Alice Roder.  He was baptized in Milbank and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Montevideo in May of 1952.  He graduated from Montevideo High School- Class of 1958 and during high school, he helped his father on the farm and also worked at JC Penney's. After graduation he worked at the Swift Creamery in Montevideo.

Arlen was drafted into the U.S. Army in September of 1961 and served in Korea as a supply handler.  He was honorably discharged in September of 1963.  He married Anita Brock on October 17, 1963 in Clarkfield, MN.  They lived in Montevideo where Arlen worked at the West Side Grocery Store.

His son Mark was born in Montevideo and then Arlen and Anita moved to Sycamore in 1965, where their daughter Pam was born in 1967.  Arlen worked for Turner Brass, Barber-Greene and later at NIU until his retirement.

After retirement, Arlen enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, darts and spending his winters in Mesa, AZ. He loved spending time with this family and grandchildren, along with singing Karaoke and all activities at the Park in Arizona.

Arlen had been a  member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sycamore ever since he moved to Illinois.

Survivors include his wife Anita of Sycamore; son Mark of Phoenix, AZ; daughter Pam (Richard) Carlson of Mesa, AZ; grandchildren Richie of Mesa, Sierra of San Diego, CA and Mallory of Mesa; brothers Roger of Bayfield, WI, Allen of Hanley Falls, MN;  and sister Arleth of Watson, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Alice Roder; and brothers Glenn, Leon, David and Tim Roder.

His Memorial Service will be on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the St. John Lutheran Church, 26555 Brickville Road, Sycamore, IL.
Military honors will follow the service at the church.

All are invited to stay for light lunch and time for fellowship after the military honors at the Church hall.

His final resting place will be at the Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens in Montevideo, MN.
