Angeline Stella (Diane) Oniszcuk Fruhman

Angeline Oniszcuk Fruhman, 97, died on Dec 13, 2023 at Northwestern Kishwaukee Hospital after a long and adventure filled life.  She was born to Carl and Stella (Nowicki) Oniszcuk in Reseburg, WI and grew up on a farm near Thorp. WI.  She was always up for escapades with her friends. After graduating from Thorp High School, Angie moved to Milwaukee to take advantage of the wider opportunities there. Both she and her sister Evelyn worked at the Schlitz Brewery.

After WW2 she met Arthur Fruhman at a dance.  They had a whirlwind romance and married on June 30, 1947 after only knowing each other for only three months.  They settled in the Milwaukee area where Angie was a homemaker.  They lost their first child, James, at the age of 2 in a tragic automobile accident.

The family grew adding three daughters and moved to Mequon, WI.  As the girls grew, Angie became a Girl Scout leader and was active in the girls' school and in church activities.  She was crafty and sewed some of the girls' clothes.  When the girls were ready for college, she took a factory job to help pay the bills because she felt that education was very important and wanted all her daughters to have a college degree.

The family enjoyed summer vacations in northern Wisconsin and trips to Florida, Montana, and Colorado.  After the girls finished school, Art and Angie visited Hawaii, Mexico, and Europe several times.

Art was never one to sit still so Angie followed his lead and participated in collecting butterflies, making wine and champagne, fishing, and building their Wisconsin retirement home.  Once they retired, they became snowbirds, spending their winters in Port Charlotte, FL and their summers in Winchester, WI.  Angie became very active teaching exercise classes at both community centers and made and taught crafts at the Catholic churches in both communities.

After Art died in 2021, Angie became a resident of Oak Crest Retirement Community in DeKalb, IL so that she could be closer to family.

Angie is survived by her three daughters: Marcia (Kenneth) Elliott, Jeanette Fruhman, and Joyce Fruhman, her niece Lori (Michael) Overdeck, her grandchildren: Benjamin (Amanda) Elliott, Jesse (Frost) Michalica, Danielle (Riley) Houston, Christina Couch, Alex Ryan, and Corey Elliott, her great grandchildren: Brooklyn Williams, Carolyn Elliott, David Elliott, Brielle Williams, Bryson Williams, and Brynlee Williams and various grandnephews and grandnieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Evelyn and her brother Edmund, her son James, and her beloved husband of 74 years, Arthur.

Her visitation will take place at Christ the Teacher Newman Center 512 Normal Rd, DeKalb, IL on Sat. Jan 13, 2024 from 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM, followed by a funeral mass at 1:30 PM.  Burial will take place at a later date in Brown Deer, WI.
