Andrew "Andy" Krafft, 62, of Sycamore passed away unexpectedly in his home on Thursday, May 30, 2024. Andy was born December 23, 1961, in Sandwich, IL to Andrew and Catherine Krafft. After attending Sandwich High School, he became a plumber and worked for Ewing Doherty Mechanical for the remainder of his career. He was a member of the Local 130 Plumbers Union until he retired in December of 2021.

Andy met his late wife, Dorothy, on a blind date and the moment he met her, he knew he was going to marry her. They married on April 24, 1993, and had two children: Savanah Jean and Andrew Theodore. They moved to Sycamore, IL where they built their house, raised their children, and had a wonderful life. When he was not working, he loved to go hunting. Sitting up in a tree stand, listening to the quietness of the woods and waiting for the perfect buck was his happy place. He was so excited that he had a son who shared the same passion he did and cherished their weekends away together. After he retired, his new hobby became talking to his brother, Mike, on the phone for hours on end giving him a play-by-play of his day.

His family used to joke that there was no one like Andy; he was one of a kind. At the age of 62, he still did not know how to turn on a computer, had a pay by the month flip phone, did not have a credit/debit card and would rather just duct tape his shoes instead of wasting money on new ones. You could always count on him to show up anywhere with old Levi jeans on and a black Marengo Guns t-shirt; and if it were a nice occasion: his black jeans which he called his "fancy pants." He may not have been the best dressed; but he was the kind of man that his family could count on; he took care of the cars, knew how to build anything, and could always fix what was broken. He made sure his family was taken care of and always had what they needed. Despite complaining about how much he did not like people he could strike up a conversation with anyone and talk about anything. There was never a dull moment when he was around; he could have written several books with all of the stories he had to share and loved to make people laugh. He loved to yell at the news and when asked why he continued to watch it he would reply, "sometimes I just like to be angry." That was just who Andy was: one of a kind.

He is survived by his children; Andrew Krafft and Savanah (Marc) Vargas, his mother-in-law; Genevieve Skowron, his siblings, nieces and nephews and man's best friend; his dog Maggie.

He is preceded in death by the love of his life; Dorothy (Skowron) Krafft, his parents; Andrew and Catherine Krafft, and his father-in-law; Theodore Skowron.

At the request of Andy; no funeral or wake will be planned. He wanted a party to be thrown where people could laugh, drink, and listen to his favorite band, Motley Crue. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
