Andrew (Andy)
D. Schap
May 13, 1969 — Oct 12, 2022
Andrew (Andy) D. Schap, 53, of Sycamore passed away on October 12, 2022 surrounded by his Family. Andy had battled Stage 4 Lung Cancer for a short period of time and was taken way too soon.
He was born on May 13, 1969 in Galena, Illinois to Gary H. and Toni K. (Schap) Philbrick.
Andy was a Desert Storm Veteran who served in the Navy on the U.S.S. America from 1988-1992.
After Andy's honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy he was a Union Painter for many years and eventually started his own business "Schap Painting & Drywall". His talent, expertise and happy nature will be missed by many.
Andy had many interests including golf, scuba diving and boating, but his passion was cooking for his family (especially his kids) and friends. He also loved to nap in his big recliner chair every Sunday while watching sports.
Andy will always be remembered for his sense of humor, selflessness and sarcasm. He was also kind and caring and would give second chances to those in need. Because of his giving nature the Schap Family would like to donate the proceeds of the Cancer Fundraiser to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
He is survived by:
Daughters - Madison Schap (Sycamore, IL), Kendall Schap (San Antonio, TX) and Son - Chad Schap (Ft. Bragg, NC)
Mother and Stepfather - Toni K. (Schap) Philbrick and Dean Philbrick
Sisters - Lisa (Schap) Walters (Justin), Kelly (Schap) Bennett (Jim), and Brother - Rick Schap.
