Alice B. Butz, 90, of Kingston, IL died July 22, 2024 at her home.

She was born on July 21, 1934 in Belvidere, IL to Peter "Vern" and Alice (Grandadam) Schafman.  She married Leonard L. Butz on June 5, 1955.

Alice enjoyed many crafting hobbies, sewing, quilting, gardening and recently Diamond Dotz!
She, along with her sisters Grace, Joyce and Doris, and friend Ruth Clay, organized the Christmas in the Country Craft Show in Belvidere for 19 years.

Immediately after high school, she worked for the Belvidere School District.  After marrying and moving to Genoa, she worked at Genoa State Bank.

Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Leonard "Jim" Butz,  sisters Carol Best and Joyce Geraci of Rockford,  brother and sister in-law, Howard and Imogene Butz  of Genoa , her 3 children, Kim (Bill) Hart, Lee, IL, Scot Butz, and Jill (Curt) Nicholson of Kingston.  Grandma Alice has 8 Grandchildren, Jeff and Steve Hart, Emily Nicholson, Ben and Mark Nicholson, Kathryn Swanson, Stacey Krpan and Bryan Butz and 7 Great Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Alice and Vern Schafman, 5 sisters, Rita Ohlsen, Doris Morral, Helen Schmidt, Mary Ellen Schafman and Grace Rielly.

Her visitation will be on Friday, August 2 from 5:00-7:00 PM at the Slater-Butala Funeral Home, 132 W. Main, Genoa, IL.

Her funeral mass will be at the St. Catherine of Genoa Church, 340 S. Stott St., Genoa, IL. on Saturday, August 3 at 10:00 AM.  She will be buried at the North Kingston Cemetery in Kingston, IL.

A luncheon will follow the burial at the St. Catherine of Genoa Church hall.
